Taking advantage of 25 turnovers by the Lady Falcons, Bethune-Cookman handily defeated St. Augustine's College 63-48 Tuesday night at the ICI Center. The win takes the Lady Wildcats to 2-0 on the season. Tonight's game was fueled by momentum shifts, but B-CU took the lead at 2:15 into the game and never looked back.

The Lady Wildcats built a 21-11 lead in the middle of the first half before going on a bit of a scoring slump. The Lady Falcons came rushing back, but B-CU held onto a 28-25 halftime lead.

In the second half, B-CU came out firing again, amassing a 47-33 lead by mid-half.

Several Lady Wildcats emerged in tonight's game and stepped up to defeat the Lady Falcons. Demetria Frank led all scorers, tallying 17 points, in addition to 4 steals and 4 rebounds. On the boards, Sarah Bolden stole the show again, turning in a double double for the second consecutive game, with 13 rebounds and 10 points. Euneshia Proctor came up big on defense, swiping 5 steals to lead the team.

"I loved the intensity, that we never gave," said Head Coach Vanessa Inge, "We were consistent and didn't lay down. We came out and played hard all game."

Freshman Jasmine Bugg played considerably more minutes in tonight's game, contributing on both ends of the floor, putting in 10 points, and grabbing 3 steals.

"I thought she took some tremendous drives to the basket, full of confidence, and plays as hard as she can." Inge said of Bugg's play.

Both wins in 2008-09 have been impressive, Coach Inge is pleased with the intensity and energy she is getting from her players. However, like any good coach, she's always got an eye on improvement. She feels that her players are getting comfortable in the new offense, but she'll be the first to admit there's work to do.

"We're going to have to improve on rebounding," commented Inge, "and sometimes we rush through the offense, but I'm confident we can score out of it when we need to put points on the board."

The Lady Wildcats will spend the next week ironing out the wrinkles as they prepare for the season's first major test, the first road game. Bethune-Cookman Women's Basketball will next be in action Tuesday, Nov. 25 as they take on Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla.
